lakes

New Zealand counts almost 800 lakes that cover 1,3% of the country. Almost half of them have been created by glaciers, which gives them their turquoise color.

mountains

New Zealand Southern island is filled with glaciers that stand from Fjordland National Park to Nelson region. On the contrary, the Northern island is home to famous volcanoes. Indeed, some of the landmarks of New Zealand are Franz Joseph glacier and Tongariro Volcano.

geothermal activities

New Zealand is also home to geothermal systems, mainly located around the Taupo Volcanic zone. Therefore, the Northern island has been shaped and colored by volcanic forces for millions of years.
